Today and all the other days I feel stressed about the future, Proverbs 3: 5-8 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight, " is such a wonderful reminder that God will never forsaken me. He never has. Many times I thought that he had. When my high school sweetheart and I broke up in college, I was devastated. But while God took one person out of my life, he brought in another...my college roommate and best friend, Cheryl.
After college, I searched for a job for 6 months. I was growing frustrated. I was smart and held 2 degrees from The University of Texas! Why didn't anyone want to hire me? But God had a plan. When I finally found a job, I not only found employment, but I also found a new best friend and my husband!
Today, Steve and I are both tired and frustrated with trying to get our house ready to put on the market. We come home from work just to find out from our contractor that something else is wrong with our house and more work needs to be done. At the end of the day, I trust that if the contract with the new house falls through, that a better house is out there for us. God has never forsaken me and I trust that he never will. Say Yes to the Dress
First of all, I am totally obsessed with the show. I DVR it and watch it every chance I can get. I was even inspired to put on my wedding dress after watching an episode (Steve said he needed pliers to get the zipper up...but it went up )!
But this post is not about the show, but more about my current infatuation with dresses. I love the way I feel when I wear a dress. Sophisticated. Sexy. I think I'll add wearing more dresses to my list of New Year's Resolutions. This may mean however, that I need to buy more dresses. I currently have my eyes on these two. (Top is Banana Republic and Bottom is J.Crew).

Sweet Noise
Yes it's kinda late, but I was uploading Christmas photos from my camera to my computer and I couldn't resist uploading these videos of my nephews at Christmas!
Mm, Mm Good
The Mister has been feeling a little under the weather lately, so I made him some homemade chicken noodle soup. I don't mean to brag, but this soup was AWESOME. I can't take full credit because I got the recipes off of Allrecipes.com. Yes, I said recipes. I combined two soup recipes that we had tried before, taking the best parts of both to create one super awesome recipe. It is a slightly thicker/creamier version of your traditional chicken noodle soup. Here is the recipe in case you are interested: Start to finish, it takes about 50 minutes to make.
Ingredients
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
8oz container fresh mushrooms chopped
2 cloves minced garlic
1/8t dried thyme
1/8t dried parsley flakes
8 cups chicken broth (I use the cans)
1 chicken bouillon
1 lb chicken breast or tenders
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
1 (10.75 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 bag of egg noodles
Directions
1. In a pot (I use my Dutch oven (thanks Cristina)) saute onion, carrots, celery, mushrooms for about 5 minutes. Add garlic, thyme, and parsley and saute for 1 minute more.
2. Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
3. Add chicken bouillon and chicken breasts to pot and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.
4. In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir/whisk in flour until smooth.
5. Remove the cooked chicken from the pot and shred.
6. Whisk in the butter/flour mixture to the pot.
7. Whisk in the cream of mushroom soup and bring to a slow boil.
8. Add the egg noodles to the soup and cook for about 8 minutes.
9. Add the shredded chicken back to the pot and let simmer for another 5 minutes.

This Trophy's Moving to a New Case!

After a year and a half search for a new house, we finally found one two streets over from where we currently live! I had been eyeing the house for quite some time even before it was on the market; even conspiring to go harass the owners in hopes that they would move. Luckily I didn't have to sink to that...I promise! Steve and I looked at the house before Christmas and decided to hold off on making any offers until after the holidays. Of course being as inpatient as I am, I was pestering Steve to let us put an offer in the day after New Years ; ) But Steve in his infinite wisdom, said we should hold off a little longer until our house was closer to being ready to put on the market. I begrudgingly agreed that that made the most sense. Another week passed and I was quietly growing inpatient. Little did I know that Steve and our realtor were already in negotiations with the seller. On the morning of my birthday, as we were still laying in bed, Steve presented me with an envelope. Inside was a picture of the house with the words "We're Moving!" I was shocked and still am! I can't believe that Steve did all legwork and negotiating! I can't believe a year and a half of bitching about wanting a new house finally paid off! Persistence ladies!
In all seriousness, we waited a long time searching for the right house and I think this is the one! I also waited a long time to find the right man, and I KNOW Steve is the one! I am one LUCKY LADY!

My Mother Always Said...
"Pray about everything. There is nothing too big or too little to ask the Lord for."
Dear Lord, can you please make the Texas Longhorns win the 2010 National Championship Game? Amen.
